Product Detail

The RF Venue OPTIX2-S3-US is a high-performance RF to fiber optic (RFoF) conversion system from the OPTIX Series 3. It's specially designed to make it easy to place wireless audio antennas remotely. The OPTIX Transmitter module takes RF signals from an antenna source and turns them into a single-mode optical signal. This signal travels down a fiber-optic cable to the OPTIX Receiver module, which converts it back to RF. With no signal loss over the optical cable, it can extend the antenna placement range up to several kilometers, getting rid of the need for bulky and lossy coaxial cables. This system is great for both live production and installed sound setups. It comes with a bunch of user-configurable controls. You can manage the signal level, apply DC power to active antennas or amplifiers, and directly monitor the outputs to fine-tune performance. It's compatible with VHF, UHF, and the 900 MHz band, and works with any brand of wireless audio system. Available in single-channel (OPTIX1-S3-US) and dual-channel (OPTIX2-S3-US) options. Key features include facilitating remote antenna placement, extending the antenna range, being suitable for various setups, having user-configurable controls, wide compatibility, and multiple channel options. Technical specs: Usable dynamic range is 60 dB, input noise floor is -100 dBm, max usable signal is -25 dBm, typical operating frequency ranges from 175 - 213, 470 - 698, 900 - 960 MHz, VSWR avg. is < 2.5:1, impedance (nom) is 50 OHM, max RF input power is < 0 dBm / 1 mW, DC operating voltage is 5 - 22 V, power supply voltage is 12.25 VDC, Tx Module Power Draw is ~166 mA @ 12VDC, Rx Module Power Draw is ~258 mA @ 12VDC, optical Tx wavelength is 1310 nm, dimensions of Tx and Rx are 138 mm (5.43') W X 77 mm (3.03') H X 33 mm (1.30') D (including flange and connectors), Tx weighs 223 g (7.9 oz), Rx weighs 229 g (8.1 oz), operating temperature is -25 C to 75 C (-13 F to 167 F), RF connectors are BNC female, and optical connectors are ST/UPC.

Using the RF Venue OPTIX2-S3-US is quite straightforward. First, connect your antenna to the OPTIX Transmitter module. Make sure to use the BNC female RF connectors for a proper connection. Then, link the transmitter to the OPTIX Receiver module using a fiber-optic cable with ST/UPC optical connectors. Power up the system using a 12.25 VDC power supply. You can use the user-configurable controls on the system to adjust the signal level according to your needs. If you have active antennas or amplifiers, you can apply DC power through these controls. Also, keep an eye on the outputs to fine-tune the performance. Here are some important things to note. Don't exceed the max usable signal of -25 dBm, or the signal will get clipped. The system operates within a temperature range of -25 C to 75 C (-13 F to 167 F), so avoid using it in extreme temperatures. For maintenance, keep the system clean and free from dust. Check the connectors regularly to ensure they are properly connected and not damaged. If you notice any issues with the signal or performance, first check all the connections and power supply. If the problem persists, contact the manufacturer for further assistance.
